Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate the antioxidant effect of water-soluble chitosan (WSCs), petal extracts of Abeliophyllum distichum Nakai (ADNPE), and WSCs/ADNPE. The yields of ADNPE with organic solvents (D.W, MeOH, and EtOH) were 37.07%, 33.59%, and 14.58%, respectively. The total polyphenol content of ADNPE appeared 10.53, 11.75 and 10.81 mg GAE/g. The total flavonoid content of ADNPE were 0.8, 2.23 and 1.67 mg QE/g. The total tannin content of ADNPE were 4.24, 6.93, and 5.9 mg TAE/g. The total proanthocyanidin content of ADNPE were 1.47, 1.87, and 1.59 mg CE/g. In the ADNPE with MeOH extracted at 1000 ¥ìg/ml, the DPPH radical scavenging activity, ABTS radical scavenging activity, and SOD-like activity were excellent. but, the antioxidant activity of SOD-like activity showed less than that of DPPH and ABTS radical scavenging activity. The antioxidant activities of DPPH and ABTS radical scavenging activity and SOD-like activity were in order of MeOH, EtOH, and D.W extracts, respectively. When WSCs added ADNPE, the DPPH and ABTS radical scavenging activity and SODlike activity of ADNPE/WSCs showed high antioxidant activities. This study showed that ADNPE and ADNPE/WSCs are good antioxidants.
